You may have noticed that Planet has been running a little slow the past few days and that, while browsing conferences, it will speed up and slow down from time to time.
We have traced the problem to some kind of network slowdown at our Internet provider, LMI. After we reported the problem, it seems to be fixed now. We noticed that they were recently the victim of a denial of service attack. Could have been related.

The FC server and website are now back up. The problem was an outage of some kind at LMI, our ISP in Berkeley.

The FC server is currently offline. We believe this is a problem at our ISP, as Planet's website is also down.
It being Sunday, it may take awhile before this problem is resolved.

The server was down again around 12:00 for about half an hour but is now back up. UPS problem again. We have temporarily plugged the server into a power strip, without the UPS, until we can investigate the problem.

There was an interruption of Service this morning. The problem with the domain should be fixed. If you are having problems getting onto PlanetMUG change the Server Setting in the FirstClass Program to 66.117.150.48

The PlanetMUG server move back to LMI in Berkeley has been completed.
If you have difficulty logging in with your FirstClass client, try the following:
1.) Open the "FirstClass Login" screen
2.) Click on the "Setup" button
3.) Change the "Server" field to read the following IP address:
66.117.150.48
4.) Then click the "Save" button.
You should now be able to login.
Note: This is temporary, until the DNS pointers have been re-established.
By tomorrow, you should be able to log in consistently with fc.planetmug.org in the "Server" field.
If you are experiencing any further difficulty logging in using your FirstClass client, you may send me a message from your external email account addressed to:
administrator@planetmug.org
and I will reply as best as I can.
